Tampa Bait and Tackle Company
Tampa , Florida

Tampa Bait and Tackle Company was in business for only a very short period of time in the late 1930's. They were the successors to a company started in Orlando, Florida several years before by Paul Manon. The lures made by Tampa Bait and Tackle Company are refined versions of those made earlier by Manon's Anglers Bait Company and also by Dazzy Vance & Company.

The lures shown here are part of our collection. Click on the thumbnail pictures to see a larger image

Years earlier, Anglers Bait Company made lures nearly identical to these. They were named Pendulum No. 2000, Angle Frog, and Seahopper. The models made by Tampa Bait and Tackle Company are somewhat more refined in shape and appearance than those seen from Anglers Bait Company.

An early pocket catalog from Anglers Bait Company described their Pendulum 2000 and Angle Frog lures as having an arrowed red throat. As seen here, that paint characteristic was carried forward by Tampa Bait and Tackle on their version of the lures. Arrowed Red Throat
