Tampa
Bait and Tackle Company
Tampa , Florida |
The Tampa Bait and Tackle Company
was in business for only a very short period of time in the late 1930's.
It is believed that they were the successors to Dazzy Vance and Company,
which was a partnership between Paul Manon and baseball legend Dazzy Vance.
Dazzy Vance and Company had manufactured a lure known as the Angle Frog.
The lure seen here is the Angle Frog as made by the Tampa Bait and Tackle
Company. It has a body style similar to that of a Dalton Special, but it
has an eye on the side and another eye on the belly. The lure has a gill
mark spray painted in the shape of a large
"V" (as in Vance?).
