H.B. Costa Bait Company
Tampa, Florida

Very little is known about the H.B. Costa lure company or their lures. It is generally believed that the company was manufacturing fishing lures in Tampa, Florida in the late 1920's and 1930's.

The lure shown here is commonly referred to as the Hammerhead, probably because of the shape of it's head. The actual lure name is Istokpoga. It is unclear why, but the lure bears the name of Lake Istokpoga, which is a large natural lake located near Sebring, Florida.

The logo on the side of the box reads "It's the movement that gets them".

Several other lures have been attributed to Costa, but no catalog or paperwork has turned up to positively identify their products.
