Alcoe Lure Company
Fern Park , Florida

The Alcoe Lure Company of Fern Park, Florida was named after the man who ran the company, Al Coe. In the 1940's Coe made "Lures designed to fool fish, not the fisherman". That slogan appears on the side panels of the two piece cardboard box Alcoe used to pack its lures. I don't know why, but many of the Alcoe lure boxes found today have water damage like the one seen here.

The Alcoe lure seen most frequently was called the Magic Minnow. The minnow shaped wooden bait has a tail and fins made of a rubber like fabric. The Magic Minnow was made in several different sizes and colors. The gray one shown here is the most common color. There was some variation in the size and shape of the dorsal fin and tail, as seen on the green Magic Minnow in the middle. Alcoe Lure Company also made several other lures styles, such as the Alcoe Mullet.

We are always interested in adding to this collection. Please send an email if you have any old Alcoe lures or boxes for sale or trade.
